Evelyn returns to Brazil :-(

During 2023 I worked in Blackburn Lab as visiting scholar and I had an amazing experience. I am professor in Brazil and during this year, I made a training to work with oncology research using zebrafish as animal model. I was involved in many projects which allowed me to go far beyond my expectations. My research was mainly focused in the development of Patient-Derived Xenografts (PDX) of Brain Tumors as GBM and DIPG in Zebrafish Model. We were able to study the drug response of tumoral cells to chemotherapies and radiation as well as their interaction with immune cells.

To work in the Blackburn lab is to be involved with a friendly environment and to have opportunity to do scientific discussions about the most actual research. One of the most striking aspects of my research experience has been the emphasis on teamwork. Whether working in the bench, participating in seminars, or sharing ideas with the colleagues, I was continually inspired to find answers and do the best experiments.

After my return to Brazil I hope to be connected to the lab and I am grateful for the opportunities and experiences that have shaped me into the researcher I am today.
